American poet Mark Strand (80) deceased – NU.nl

That’s his daughter Jessica, in whose house he died of cancer, according to the BBC announced. Beach is considered one of the most important American poets of our time. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages.

In 1990, the Canadian-born Beach Poet Laureate of the United States, a kind of poet laureate. For his collection Blizzard of One , he received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in 1999.

The Arbeiderspers came in 2006 under the title Poems eat a bilingual bundle his poems. Was a translation of poetess Esther Jansma and Neerlandicus Wiljan van den Akker.

Beach debuted in 1964 with the collection Sleeping With One Eye Open . The title poem was his own words based on the fear he felt at the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union
