The American painter Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) is today since the most expensive female artist. Her painting Jimson Weed / White Flower No. One was sold at auction in New York for converted more than 35 million, according to US media.
Auction house Sotheby’s had yields less than a third of that amount is estimated. The amount also smashed the previous record by name stood since May Joan Mitchell (1926-1992) with nearly 9.5 million for the work Untitled.
The record painting shows a large white flower in a modern see background. O’Keeffe is seen as the “mother” of American modernism.
