WAGENINGENWORLD – Zeeland, North Brabant and Limburg this year between 30 and 75 percent reported fewer wasp nests than normal
In some areas almost no wasps. encountered. They are weggeregend. That can be seen in the nature calendar of Wageningen University. It is these areas that make late May and early June had very heavy rainfall in a short time large amounts of precipitation. In areas where taking too hard blown and / or gehageld has little wasp nests are found in shrubs and trees, and the nests are often in wall cavities or under tiles or in the ground.
In areas with heavy rainfall in May and escaped early June as part of the west and center of the Netherlands and Friesland done little wasp nest messages or even significantly more example in Groningen and Drenthe, where there’s just been an increase in the number of reports from 30 to 50 per cent. These are also the areas where this year significantly more hornets are reported than normal. These wasps are impressively large but provide relatively little inconvenience because they come much less on our sweets. If you’re near their nest will they be more aggressive than normal and German wasp.
The trend of the past more than five years by looks set to continue this year is the rise of the Polistes wasp . This more slender wasp with longer legs take over the Netherlands significantly in number, probably under the influence of rising temperatures. In areas where this year little wasps are also the French dominula had a setback but the decline is relatively less strong. French dominula makes little or no nuisance because they are not coming at sweetness unlike the ordinary and German wasp. It is difficult to control because they often many litters together around are making some quick nests about being overlooked.
