Political statements on red carpet VMA’s – NU.nl

Beyoncé appeared on the carpet, which incidentally was white colored, four mothers of young men who died in police violence. Sons Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Mike Brown and Oscar Grant were faces of the Black Lives Matter movement. Three of the four mothers who appeared with the pop diva at the VMAs, are also seen in her video album Lemonade , which has been nominated for eleven awards.

Also actresses Quvenzhané Wallis and model Winnie Harlow, in Lemonade seating, walked with Beyoncé on the carpet, as well as the daughter of the singer and Jay-Z, the 4-year-old Blue Ivy.

Former * NSYNC vocalist Lance Bass wore on the carpet a jacket bearing the words ‘Loves Trumps Hate’ were embroidered, referring to US presidential candidate Donald Trump. Bass has already expressed its support repeatedly for trumps rival Hillary Clinton.

Teen Wolf -actrice Holland Roden made especially for the VMAs a video about the dangers of smoking. They put the images online just before she made her entrance at the VMAs
