Politically divided after Pete decision-RTL – Telegraaf.nl

ruling Party VVD approves the decision outright. “Stupid move,” said VVD leader Halbe Zijlstra. “Because Zwarte Piet belongs to a children’s party. The children’s festival of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet. And in this way we ensure that the children’s party will disappear and that the VVD is a very bad thing."

PVV-leader Geert Wilders has also not a good word to say about it. “Laf laf laf. Zwarte Piet is black, and black would remain," said Wilders.

    'Compliments for RTL

Other parties are correct, however, to speak about the abolition of Zwarte Piet. Minister Lodewijk Asscher of Social Affairs (PvdA) responded immediately positive. “Compliments for RTL. Time for a change", said the deputy prime minister.

SP-Member of the Dutch parliament Harry van Bommel has agreed with him. “Courageous! The public broadcasting service can now not be left behind." Jesse Klaver of the greenleft Party speaks of a brave step. “Sinterklaas should be a celebration of all of us.”
