AMSTERDAM/FRANKFURT – From Central Station in Amsterdam will depart Tuesday morning a train full of writers in the direction of Frankfurt. King Willem-Alexander opens there later in the day, together with his Belgian colleague, Filip, the Dutch-Flemish pavilion at the Frankfurt book fair. The netherlands and Flanders together of honour of this important international book fair.
“This is what we share” is the motto under which the Netherlands and Flanders, and their literature and culture on the spotlight. More than seventy authors, representing our countries with their work. In the run-up to the book fair, there are a lot of extra translations of the original Dutch-language books in the German language created more than three hundred literary works, new and old.
Cultuurminister Jet Bussemaker, who is also the train picks up, speaks at the opening ceremony of the Buchmesse. The Dutch author Arnon Grunberg and his Flemish colleague Charlotte van den Broeck keep together one opening lecture.
The book fair lasts until Sunday.
