Beyonce gets most Grammy nominations – Telegraaf.nl

The former Destiny’s Child star is being chased by Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West, each for eight nominations listed. Chance the Rapper knew seven nominations to his name. Adele need it – like Justin Bieber – do with five nominations. The singer is in the battle for the award four times compared to Beyoncé.

    Diversity

It seems that the Grammy organization with the announcement of the contenders on a price, have responded to the lack of diversity where earlier on it was pointed out by stars like Kanye and Frank Ocean. The Recording Academy explains that in various genres, is looking to diversity, such as r&b, dance/electronic music and rock.

Yet the change, the best visible on the main prize: album of the year. There fight Adele (25: pop), Beyoncé (Lemonade: r&b), Justin Bieber (Purpose: pop powerhouse), Drake (Views: r&b, hip-hop) and Sturgill Simpson (A Sailor’s Guide To Earth: country) for the honor.

    blur Boundaries

“Just as we were emerging musicians to see experiment, we also see established artists oppose what is expected of them and, instead, the creative freedom to embrace that they have obtained through their success, that the boundaries between mainstream music and artistry are fading,” explains Recording Academy-director Neil Portnow.
