Rectification

NOS wrote Thursday that the WOB pieces exude that there is also paid for “program costs NPO Radio 2 and DWDD. This under the guise of ‘editorial’ and ‘promotion around the action within the NPO Radio 2 programming and DWDD. But this has now been rectified broadcasting.

The selection of Radio 1 and The World Keeps Turning was motivated by commercial motives. The daily range of a million viewers in DWDD should influence ‘similar to the 2000 Summit. Major purpose of the promotion was that the Koningslied high would end up in the charts.

Debacle

Koningslied in the end came out as number one in the charts, but criticism of the song drowned out the national feeling that was supposed to generate the song. Thus composer John Ewbank accused of plagiarism, because the melody resembled the song 10 000 Reasons Matt Redman.

When the text was known to the entire public opinion seemed to turn against Ewbank. Tens of thousands of Dutch signed a petition via complained about the many linguistic errors in the text. Ewbank took the song back after the storm of criticism, but later came back on that decision.
