The Passion, a modern interpretation of the Easter story, being held in Amersfoort next year.
That made the broadcasters EO and NCRV KRO, working together in this project, announced Wednesday at a presentation in the city. Eemplein appeared on the famous white cross with the logo of The Passion.
Amersfoort on Thursday, March 24th, 2016 set the stage for the contemporary musical telling of the Easter story. During a live broadcast, framed with modern popliederen, held a procession in which thousands of participants with an illuminated cross walk to the main stage.
According to EO director Arjan Lock has been chosen Amersfoort because it is a beautiful city with a large number of faith communities. “We love it if all these different communities and churches connecting with The Passion. In this way, the Easter story is told and widely supported.
Mayor Lucas Bolsius Amersfoort calls the coming of The Passion a huge challenge. “Millions of people watch the story at home, tens of thousands come to the city to experience it up close. For many Amersfoort is a unique event in their own city. “
Amersfoort also commemorate next year the influx and reception of many refugees from Belgium during the First World War. The performance of The Passion introduce references to this event. & lt;
