The Paradise Suite wins Golden Calf for best film – NU.nl

in Addition to best film was The Paradise Suite, there’s also run off with the prize for best scenario (Joost van Ginkel) and best actor (Issaka Sawadogo). The film was last year september in première during the international film festival of Toronto.

in Burkina Faso born Sawadogo played in several foreign films and series, including Guyane and Hotel Cæsar. The 50-year-old actor, was surprised by his victory. “Wow. What should I say. Hallelujah. The Dutch people trusted me and chose me for this role. God bless the Netherlands”, said the actor.

The film Beyond Drag went like The Paradise Suite Friday night with three Golden Calves; best director (Boudewijn Koole), best music (Alex Simu) and best sound design (Mark Glynne).

Hannah Hoekstra

Actress Hannah Hoekstra won the award for best actress for her role in The Helleveeg. The 29-year-old actress won in 2012, even though the Golden Calf for her role in Heaven.

The film Public Works with Gijs Scholten van Aschat, Jacob Derwig and Rifka Lodeizen had ten nominations, but went Friday night without prizes. The film was nominated in the categories best film, best actor and best actress.

Bon Bini Holland starring Jandino Asporaat got the audience award and won them a cash prize of 30,000 euros. Respectively, the second and third ranked Dummie the Mummy and the Sphinx of Shakaba (20,000 euros) and Mannenharten 2 (10,000 euros).

The Golden Calf for the film culture went to the brothers Alex and Marc van Warmerdam. This year, a total of 92 films will premiere during the Dutch Film Festival.

Actors and actresses

The prize for best male supporting role went to actor Marcel Hensema (Marathon, Hollands Hope) for his role in Kneeling on a Bed of Violins. “Thanks for the confidence. Godswegen are unfathomable connected, and how is it in ‘Jezusnaam’ possible that I am here with a Golden Calf off to go”, said Hensema during his bedankspeech with a Rotterdam accent.

Anneke Blok, who himself was absent at the awards ceremony, won the award for best female supporting actress for The Helleveeg. Got them for the third time the prestigious award.

Several famous people have reached the prices. Among others, Achmed Akkabi, athlete Marlou van Rhijn, Eva van der Gucht, Martin Koolhoven, Monic Hendrickx and Kenny B were allowed a picture to give away. In total, eighteen Calves of Gold divided.
