Radio DJs Domien Verschuuren , Giel Beelen and Paul Rabbering make here until Christmas Eve radio and television, without them eating while , for the annual fundraiser 3FM Serious Request.
On the two plazas in Heerlen where the event takes place on Friday, a total of 11,000 visitors, the municipality reported. “On one square, the Glass House, and the other square, a meter or 25 to 30 below, the stage is where artists perform,” said a spokeswoman. “There is a very good atmosphere with happy, proud people.”
The DJs in the Glass House spin request numbers for a fee and actions across the country held to raise money for the ‘silent emergency’ where the radio station each year together with the Red Cross calls attention to. The proceeds will go this time to children and youth in conflict zones such as Syria, South Sudan, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The action delivers these silent victims “a chance for a better future.
For the first time have the three DJ’s joined by a total of five colleagues, each 24 hour stay at the Glass House. They have all been given a personal mission to raise money for charity.
It’s also the first time the Glass House in Limburg state. Last year, Harlem was the center of the action. Then there are about 12 million raised for women and girls in conflict zones which were dealing with sexual violence. Next year is the home of Serious Request in Breda.
