Cohen, bright tone and deep seriousness – NOS

Cohen was born in a middle class family in the Canadian city of Montreal. Soon it was clear that his future in the art would lie. He wrote poems, books and taught himself at a young age to play guitar.

After a course of study, he decided to New York to live, where he in addition to the seal also songs started to write. Initially he wrote for others, but in 1967 he released his first own album, Songs of Leonard Cohen. He became world famous with songs like Suzanne and So long, Marianne.

Religion

His grandfather was a rabbi and he knew the jewish scriptures. In the 60′s and 70′s, he became a member of the Church of Scientology, and still later he converted to buddhism. He spent a long time in the monastery and that helped him with his depression and his tendency to “endless self-analysis”.

Retirement

the Worldly temptations and worries were, however, also not strange. Women, booze and drugs were his interest. In addition, he had on his old day to find out that his manager and huisvriendin with his retirement off. It was an important reason to be in elderly age to go touring.
