She made headlines with her band The Dap Kings, and was called the female James Brown: Sharon Jones. The soul singer passed away yesterday at the age of 60 from the effects of pancreatic cancer.
“We are very sad to be known should make that Sharon Jones has died after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. She was on her deathbed surrounded by her loved ones, among whom the Dap Kings”, can be read on her website.
The disease was in 2013, Jones noted. She was operated on and underwent chemotherapy, but continued to keep on working.
