Police hold 46 people at evacuation Bungehuis – AD.nl

Update On the twelfth day has come to an end the occupation of the Bungehuis in Amsterdam. A total of 46 people were arrested, police reported. There touched someone injured by a police horse on his foot was standing. Since ten days ago held a group of students on the premises of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and demanded more democracy in the study setting.

The grim atmosphere at the beginning afternoon later made way for a friendly protest with drums and drumming. The ME blew at 13:45 retreat. At 15.00 the UvA convene a press conference about the occupation and the evacuation of today.

Fighting for democracy
Bungehuis, a building of the Faculty of Humanities University of Amsterdam, was occupied by a group called The New University (DNU) calls and fight for democracy and transparency of governance within the university.

The University of Amsterdam last week filed a lawsuit to get the protesters out of the building and got right to the right. That particular Thursday that the students had to leave and they had to pay 1000 euro fine per day if they did not. However, the students stayed where they were.
