At Christie’s auction house in New York is a painting by the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian sold for a record amount.
The artwork Composition No. III (Composition with Red, Blue, Yellow and Black) in 1929 was converted to EUR 44.4 million under the hammer. Never before a Mondrian risking much money.
That amount exceeds every expectation. It was expected namely that the painting would fetch between 15 and 25 million euros.
