The result is the resulting fuss after the resignation of director Lorenzo Benedetti. Els Swaab, former chairman of the Council for Culture, will lead the inquiry.

De Appel The board, an international institute for contemporary art in the capital, Benedetti has mid-September made inactive. This happened after he served only seventeen months. The board wanted him outwardly and internally more as leader of the institute showed. “He puts lines connecting from, you know, and motivate employees. He plans, organizes and communicates.”
This led to shocked reactions in the art world. Dozens of prominent Dutch artists called in an urgent letter to the decision reversed. They praise Benedetti for “his exceptional qualities” as curator. Also Amsterdam gallery demanded in a petition the return of artistic director.
Benedetti
from Italy Benedetti (1972) started on 1 June last year as director of the art center. He was previously director of the Vleeshal in Middelburg in 2013 and was curator of the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
