He follows Mariss Jansons, who announced his departure in April 2014 and most recently in the capacity of chief conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra will stand.

In 2004 debuted Daniele Gatti on immersive manner as guest conductor with the Concertgebouw Orchestra with works by Richard Strauss and Wagner. Since then he has been asked back on a very regular basis. The performances of Gatti distinguished by its own distinct vision of the major orchestral repertoire and an open attitude to less well-known works.

He has already made several tours with the orchestra. He led during the summer tour of 2013 Mahler’s Ninth Symphony at major festivals in Europe, which led to rave reviews in foreign newspapers. A CD of works by Berg under his leadership on the private label of the orchestra, RCO Live. His last performance with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Verdi’s Falstaff at the National Opera in June 2014, was hailed by the press and public.
