René Gude, philosopher and until recently Thinker of the Fatherland, deceased yesterday at the age of 58. This confirms the International School of Philosophy (ISVW), for which he was ambassador, on request. He suffered for years from cancer and was terminally ill.

Gude, born in 1957 in Surabaya, studied social geography and philosophy in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Since the 90s, he was engaged in popularizing philosophy. Gude was himself succeeded by Marli Huijer last month, the first “Denkeres’ the Fatherland. Gude was in 2013 Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
