Film Review: The Avengers: Age of Ultron – Joss Whedon – NU.nl

Exactly three years ago were the forces of Marvel superheroes Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America for the first time together in one film: The Avengers

That was a huge box office success, the film grossed a half billion dollars, making it one of the biggest blockbusters ever – only the James Cameron movie Avatar and Titanic spent more on

A sequel. was inevitable and a sequel was already in the planning, in the tightly scheduled Marvel universe over the next four years, eleven (!) superhero movies moviegoer fires. Competitor DC Comics also not lagging behind and coming between now and 2020 with ten superhero movie, starting with Batman vs. Superman:. Dawn of Justice March 2016

The earth will therefore still about 21 times and threatened again be rescued in the nick of time.

Sokovia

The earth is again at stake in Age of Ultron, which is fast out of the starting blocks. The Avengers are in the fictional Eastern European country Sokovia the castle in which Baron Strucker is hiding his criminal HYDRA organization.

Partying Avengeers

But they should have known better, especially with the cocky inventor – and Iron Man – Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in their midst. Along with scientist – Hulk – Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), he tries to use the powers of the scepter of Loki to create a force field that can protect the earth. Unfortunately, this force field has its own will and while partying Avengers fun with Thor’s hammer they see themselves suddenly faced with a supreme adversary, Ultron.

And then there’s the vengeful twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (one is fast, the other strange ‘) that has a bone to pick with Tony Stark. Scarlet Witch can manipulate thoughts, and so we see in the visions of the main characters familiar from earlier films ultrashort return as Heimdall (Idris Elba). If the movie though not full enough with so many super-egos and minor characters from the TV series Agents of SHIELD .

Amusing mess

Especially the last half hour with a long rescue operation and a overkill to special effects, is tedious. Fortunately also reversed gas, as for the budding love between Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson).

And Tony Stark must again like coming out of the corner, although Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has the wittiest remark. This second Avengers movie is another crowded but entertaining mess where every fan something to their taste can be found. And so, Avengers Infinity Wars Part 1 already scheduled for May 2018, Part 2 by May 2019.
