Young and old guard join forces at Friends of Amstel Live – NU.nl

The organization has always been able to find a good balance between established and emerging acts nederpop press with a current hit, but this year, the young heroes more than ever, shoulder to shoulder with their examples. The opening of dancer Timor Steffens to the sounds of Ariana Grande alone indicates that Friends of Amstel moves with the times.

Kensington is the first occurring act of the evening. The rock group that grew within a few years of promising live band to one of the greatest stadium bands found in the Netherlands, shows that Streets and War now to the ever-lengthening queue nederpop classics may be counted. Among the hits of the Nick & amp tonight present; Simon Bløf and Rob de Nijs.

Rejuvenation

That rejuvenation also puts on other fronts through, albeit sometimes subtle. A string combo plays such Armin van Buurens This Is What Is Feels Like . Dance is at Friends of Amstel always been a somewhat neglected, but Fedde Le Grand is there with his performance (along with Di-Rect) in one fell swoop to an end. It opens the door to more dance in the future.

The same goes for hip hop. The big star of the evening was Typhoon, whose boundless enthusiasm and unbridled energy into the back corner of the Ahoy is palpable. The highlight comes in the form of its cooperation with Di-Rect. Along with the rock group Typhoon gives a very hard cover of the Beastie Boys hit down (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) , to the delight of the audience

.

Reunion

Yet it is not only the talents of recent years that surprise, but also the artists we or will become the pillars of the Dutch song. Especially noteworthy is the reunion of Acda en De Munnik, barely a year after the duo gave his farewell concert. Although men still rather indicate that the cake was, as they seem now to come back. The fans are happy with it.

But there is not nothing but love for the artists, because when Huub van der Lubbe and Thomas Acda jointly Amsterdam from Jacques Brel singing sounds whistling and even some boos from the public. The ode to the capital does not seem to fall quite nicely in Rotterdam, which is a small blemish on an otherwise celebratory evening. Messrs withdraw none of that there.

U2

While Bløf and Guus Meeuwis often revert to their familiar repertoire, gets 3JS out of his comfort zone by interpreting three songs of U2, including Bono glasses with Jan Dulles and The Edge-cap Jaap Kwakman. It is remarkable how well the Volendam company the sound of Irish rockers knows mimic, especially at the pointed execution of Vertigo .

Friends of Amstel Live takes the audience three and a half hours in tow and pushing the visitors within that time frame a broad cross-section of our country for music. Woesthoff so it goes in duet with Claudia Breij on the comforting Can I hanging out with you , which stands in sharp contrast to Thomas Acda’s contribution to Sexy When I Dance Nielson. But the regulars have become accustomed
