VPRO sends controversial Scientology from docu – AD.nl

The NPO has acquired the rights of the HBO documentary Going Clear, about the Church of Scientology. VPRO will broadcast the film on May 19, so made the broadcast Tuesday.



In the film, recently in the United States caused great commotion, clapping eight former members of the Church of Scientology from the school about the activities passage of the controversial church. As is partly the screenwriter Oscar-winning Paul Haggis (Crash) to the floor.

The eight former members talk about their often traumatic experiences, about what attracted them initially within the Scientology and why they have left the church. Also the birth of the church discussed and the role that big stars like John Travolta and Tom Cruise have played in the success of Scientology.

Going Clear went in January premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and received as much praise. In the United States sent the HBO movie end of March. This led to much controversy.
