Westera (1958) published from 1999 various nursery stories, picture books (often in rhyme) and poetry. She also wrote non-fiction, and she is a frequent translator of picture books. Weve (1954) has since its debut already illustrated more than a hundred books in 1980.
For the Woutertje Pieterse Prize was this year for the first time earlier announced nominations. Except Doodgewoon were four other books in the race. The jury was chaired by filmmaker and journalist Hanneke Groenteman
