The writer and poet Sybren Polet is deceased on July 19.

This is apparent from newspaper ads and a piece on the website of publisher Polets Wereldbibliotheek. He was 91 years old.

Sybren Polet was born in 1924 as Sybe Minnema. He debuted in 1926 with the poetry collection Genesis . His last collection was published last year, titled The aaahh & amp; ooohh of verbonaut .

Polet’s prose is known as experimental. In Polets 90th birthday last year Janet Luis wrote a piece about the writer. She noted:

“There still is in my mind an early kind of dichotomy emerged. There are still two houses Poletten: a bright, witty storyteller who loves metamorphoses and likes to take a mockery of the time. And a little less well geluimde theorist who tirelessly fights for his own creative principles and regularly complains about his short-sighted readers. Many of those readers may, like me, not so good with his life ‘impurity’, with its tendency to mix the genres. In his novels he admits historical and other essayistic digressions. In his reflections, he once again processed narrative and autobiographical elements. And his poems often do become quite contemplative and prosaic, even almost scientifically “

Four years earlier featured Luis Polets work for an interview as follows:

” The work of Sybren Polet is considered experimental, as different because none are ongoing stories are told which characters are psychologically interpreted. It is more difficult to find. He himself believes that his’ imagination adventures are not that complicated. “They are often summarized in a few sentences.” The difficulty is there for the readers in which they are presented with a multitude of narrative fragments, which do not usually connect seamlessly. “

known novel Polet is Mannekino in 1968. It was also one of the novels that Polet himself high successful. At Luis’ question with which Polet novels contemporary reader should begin, he replied:

“To begin with Forbidden Time (1964) and Mannekino (1968), two accessible, adventure novels. Especially Mannekino is regularly reprinted. People are often attracted by the brilliant, ruthless boy who avoids it. Then, the jump can be made to The top hat of history , which consists entirely of tantalizing stories, in various styles, different eras. Who then has the taste, there is creative factor (1993). In it I have thoroughly researched what about the creative urge of man. Where he gets his discoveries? What is fantasy? What came first, the human or the language? I have read hundreds of books out there, with lots of fun. I also have, among others, held for students of information, lectures which were very well received. “

Polet received include the Busken Huet Prize and the Constantijn Huygens Prize.
