Gaga and Bennett seemed a marketing gimmick when we first heard about the combination. Our unequal in September last year, when their joint album Cheek to cheek appeared.

The old man, now 88, simply could still. The 29-year-old Gaga proved to be anything but a dancing, provocative hit machine also have a beautiful jazz voice. With real standards as repertoire promises that the necessary glamor tonight (20.30).

D’Angelo

In addition to this illustrious pair welcomes the jubilee NSJ Today yet another international superstar: D’Angelo closes the festival off in the large Nile Hall (23:30). The American multi-instrumentalist was years out of sight when late last year new album Black Messiah came.

But not from the heart, revealed immediately. And D’Angelo is not forgotten. Shows earlier this year in Utrecht and Amsterdam roared as usual and tonight will expect nothing less from this tyrant.

Jazz

Jazz lovers can look forward to a joint action Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock (20.30 and beware: a plus concert or for an additional card must be purchased). Singer Cassandra Wilson is on the roll (21:15), as well as some more contemporary her colleague Mary J. Blige (21.30).

What a pity of the program is that the special talent Benjamin Clementine (23:15) almost simultaneously plays like D’Angelo. Just as the latter who want to see the end of Alabama Shakes (22.45) should pass up. The opening performance in the large Nile Hall of Typhoon from 17.30 contrast, another fine placed entrant.

The program starts today at 16.45. Follow our reporters at the North Sea Jazz on TwitterMarcelFrost andbartwijlaars or telegraaf.nl/filmenuitgaan
