Mumford & Sons is Goffertpark too big – Tubantia

6 years grew Mumford & amp; Sons of a caféband to a formation that brings on the leg of a crowd of 50,000 fans in Nijmegen. It is a growth spurt that young twenties to real rock stars transformed

On Saturday metamorphosis which had also organized at the live stage and revealed that Mumford & amp.; Sons alone in a stadium format group has become.

The wearing of a truly mass concert is the foursome still quite short. The London band hosts a great musicianship and Marcus Mumford has a voice on the radio at home that you immediately recognize in the crowd. But on a plain like that of the Goffertpark lacks the necessary charisma to the group, the necessary large gesture and simply more solid stadium songs.

And it seemed to be such a wonderful evening at one of the most beautiful concert venues in the Netherlands. Precautions had to protect the public from the extreme heat proved unnecessary. In the warm evening sun did Mumford & amp; Sons actually cross to head in only.

The fact that this did not succeed, lying in front of a large part to the choice of the set list. Which leaned too heavily on the disappointing third group album Wilder Mind. Then many worn guitar rock that Mumford & amp; Sons in the Goffertpark did sound like Kings of Leon at the sedatives. It chose the group except the hits of the first two albums Sigh No More (2009) and Babel (2012) a lot of slow work.

The show ran through off balance. The fans who were hoping for a party founded on the rousing banjo rhythms that sound long characterized the group, had to wait until Little Lion Man encore gave some color. However, when it was too late for a truly memorable evening. Before that there were in the first 1.5 hours too many silences on stage cases and was an intimate diptych – the band posted himself for Timshel and Cold Arms around one microphone – completely ignored the rear of the field.

That Mumford & amp; Sons is a band with great potential is indisputable. But the lesson that once outside England can draw the quartet of his biggest concert, that’s upending of a reservoir of nice songs not automatically lead to a memorable evening
