Joan Collins and John Hurt distinguish – Yahoo! News

Actress Joan Collins and actor John Hurt are among the 1164 people who at the end of the year British received royal honors. On the list of “New Year’s Honours 2015 ‘are about as many women as men, the BBC reported Wednesday.

Hurt (74) was appointed Knight (Knight) in the Order of the British Empire. He received two Oscar nominations for his roles in The Elephant Man and Midnight Express. Collins (81), best known from the American soap opera Dynasty, may now Lady for putting her name. That is the female equivalent of Knight.

Collins was already appointed in 1997 to “Officer (officer) in the Order of the British Empire for her acting. Now she is distinguished for her charity work. Collins has been campaigning for years for charities.

The awards go to people who have made a remarkable achievement, for example in the areas of science, politics or sports.
