Review ‘The battle for Middle-earth stands on To begin, ‘cried Gandalf 11 years ago. That fight at the end of The Lord of the Rings trilogy (The Return of the King) was an unprecedented spectacle in which human, hobbit, troll, orc, giant elephant and even spirit met in a special effects-orgy to drool. Now there’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, a final of a trio movies. And again announced magician Gandalf (Ian McKellen) to a brawl.

“The battle for the mountain is about to begin at the point,” just sounds a lot less exciting. You could almost forget that the Hobbit films rely on a children’s book that Tolkien ever wrote before his epic Ring series. Returning director Peter Jackson chose an equally wide-ranging approach. Nevertheless, there may still execute such a beautiful spectacle for your 3D glasses, the bet remains ‘just’ a mountain. This is not only criticized the hobbit movie series as a concept. Unfortunately, there is more to it. Jackson did quickly appealed to the computer. The whole often looks artificial and weightless. And there is a mandatory love tune, that is accompanied by phrases like ‘why does love hurt so much? ” However fortunately some positive opposite. Dwarf King Thorin Oakenshield is at the last moment still a pretty tragic figure. And Jackson can still amidst all the clatter suddenly make room for an intimate affair.

That together inbeukende armies we now know. It is in the small moments that the greatness of The Lord of the Rings is again momentarily felt
