The meek many romcoms is that they all want to keep. to friend Girls looking for sugar sweet escapism, guys who love sweet girls and the postmodern viewer, who like some cynical remarks placed with ‘love’.

The recipe for such a film is fairly simple: take the classic plot of two turtledoves prospective and clothe it with a handful gorigheden absurd and sharp dialogues. But that is often forced. Nobody talks continuously jokes.

Pubic
‘What if’ is such a film. Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe) has been studying medicine given to it and still grieves for his ex. When he first appears at a party after a year hermit, he runs Chantry (Zoe Kazan) against the beautiful body. Almost immediately apparent that they are made for each other. They chat endlessly about pubic hair filled pillows and favorite treats of Elvis Presley. Only at parting seems to be a problem to have: Chantry has a boyfriend.

It will not even bloody. Wallace is a nice guy and doing the right thing: he denies his romantic feelings and is satisfied with friendship. But how long is that good?

Perfect movie girl
‘What if’ is like an enthusiastic dog. He jumps into you and licks your face. Look! How fun! I am! Especially Chantry makes fur. She is the ultimate manic pixie dream girl ‘or the perfect movie girl. Sweet, charming, good strange, intelligent, funny and, if we miserable boyfriend just wished away, also very accessible. The character Chantry works well initially, but after an hour you scratch you still behind the ears: this is realistic or the dream of a male screenwriter?

If you can see through the manipulation once, that whole Chantry suddenly quite annoying creature. That the film remains reasonably intact, comes through Radcliffe, whose rough, somewhat rough prevent fine contrast with the slick clichés
