That one sentence, from Lady Gaga’s recent (and modest) hit Applause. “Pop culture was in art, art now in pop culture, in me.” She prides itself on stand. Lady Gaga transports the high art to pop music. But her latest record artpop Surely you can not help but think: Lady Gaga once again brought some really good music at a somewhat acceptable, if necessary artistic level.
The vital and catchy pop song missing on artpop. The album drifts around in elektropopland; bit bombastic, little nuance and certainly not hitgevoel, especially by those close lubricated electronic dance sound.
The sensation feeling of glory times round singles like Poker Face, Paparazzi and Born This Way seems a bit of Gaga slipped. So shimmers the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam Wednesday determined not nervous tension. The tent murmurs earlier and from suspicious pending. Not sold out, even still.
It’s serious Gaga
The careful emerging malaise around her forever half-naked singers person Gaga is in preparation for her Artrave’-world tour to extreme have driven. Because from the vicious start-with-a-bang is clear that Gaga is going in with stretched leg (and of course doing as many shows bil.)
That makes for some surprises. The decor is Gaga concepts quite minimalist. A white Styrofoam nederzettinkje in Mesopotamia, nothing more. In the houses of nepklei is an equally classic band: drums, bass, guitars, keys. Surprise two: that tape is going to try to rock. From the second number G.U.Y. you hear that Gaga is serious: the number is live actually a pretty fun song, with even a ripping solo guitar
Al sings Lady Gaga in an already rather pounding performance of Just Dance on a multiple of its own. voice recorded over; Artrave is a show which highlights many live feeling is pressed, and now that is in the larger entertainment genre sometimes different.
The eye would of course also important, and thus get wonderful choreography little hordes dancers to see exorbitant attributes, fierce outfits hung with Miró figures. And then the previews of Gaga herself; of curled octopus creature to mermaid, a sort of exploded Japanese gothic lolita or a pearly shell rising Greek Goddess. Hysterical, yet funny.
all alone
The most convincing Lady Gaga solo, remains at the piano, all alone at the tip of the catwalk cross winds through the arena. She sings a controlled version of its anti-drug song Dope, with beautifully twisted, theatrical voice to drink. Then Yoü And I, in fierce jazz vocals. Then the iconic Born This Way, Gaga became the hit that standard-bearer of the gay community. Gaga sings powerfully and sensitively emerging tears in the stands, under her even as pathetic Marilyn Monroe wig.
The show dropped after vocal power presentation unfortunately sharply, with lesser songs like Judas and Aura, but here Gaga shows himself merciful: they perform the weak brethren from her repertoire but half out, in a comfortable medley
And so you may after nearly two hours Ziggo show see that Gaga might not. is returned to the damespoptop but as a live phenomenon can not yet be written off as well.
