Floor Rieder (1985) wins award for best illustrated children’s book – nrc.nl

Debutant Floor Rieder (1985) won the Golden Paintbrush, the award for the best illustrated children’s book of the past year. That was just published in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Also Fleming Anton Hart Bridges (1990) was awarded.

Rieder received the prize for her illustrations in The mystery of all living , a children’s book that evolution was written by Jan Paul Schutten. The jury praised Rieders illustrations:

“They’re dashing, funny, innovative and informative – all together, you will find but very rarely in children’s book illustrations. The mystery of all living is the master thesis of Floor Rieder, a masterpiece of a book. ‘

About her illustration work says Rieder morning in an interview nrc.next :

“It’s pure entertainment.Ik people want to make something clear, learn something or show you something. But I work mainly for myself. In order to get better. In order to have success. In the period that I smoked weed – very long ago at all, I was 17 – I had that ‘profound’ nights where we concluded that you end up doing everything yourself. Even if you do it for someone else, you do it for personal gain to themselves. There’s still something in, I think “

Thomas de Veen, children’s book reviewer for NRC Handelsblad and also a jury member of the Golden Paintbrush, is spot on.:
