Six men nominated for the AKO Literature – Parool.nl

Six books are still in the race for the AKO Literature Prize win. On the list of nominees are Wessel to Gussinklo (Extremely bright light), Stefan Hertmans (War and turpentine), Guus Kuijer (The Bible for unbelievers 2), Tom Lanoye (Happy slaves), K. Schippers (For you) and Frank Westerman ( Stik Valley). That the jury, led by Job Cohen, said tonight.

On November 13, will be announced the winner. The author of the winning book will receive 50,000 euros and a picture of Eugene Peters. Last year the award went to Joke van Leeuwen for her book Feast of the beginning.

The jury had two weeks ago, the list of tips brought out the long list of 25 nominated books. Among the 19 dropouts are Remco Campert (Hotel du Nord), Arnon Grunberg (Apocalypse) and Marente the Moor (Roundhay, garden scene). Guus Kuijer was also nominated for the third part of the Bible for unbelievers, but the book also fell off.

The AKO Literature Prize is one of the most important prizes in Dutch literature. Among the previous winners are J. Bernlef, Connie Palmen, AFTh. van der Heijden, Arnon Grunberg, Jeroen Brouwers and Jan Siebelink
