The concert by Pharrell Williams at Ziggo Dome grabbed nearly as nice as it could have been, Volkskrant writes critic Menno Pot. “The best of themselves Pharrell kept for after the concert. For Humberto Tan. Then right there is something wrong. ”

It will have the wisdom that comes with age, but the fact is that Pharrell Williams now on his 41st, a very different man than the bored, some recalcitrant young man who ten years ago in Amsterdam was the album Fly Or Die from his band NERD to promote

Now Pharrell, which occurred Tuesday in a non sold Ziggo Dome, a chastened world star: quietly. (some even phlegmatic), friendly and above all grateful. In between the songs, he kept repeating that he is so grateful, so “humbled” and that he felt so incredible that we were all there. “Do you realize what we go through this together?”

It took the pace off the slick revue of pop hits. Frankly, such a sizzling musical performance and some intensely as Williams suggested, it was not.

Time travel
The current ‘Dear GIRL Tour’ takes the form of musical memoirs. Pharrell took us on a journey through time, starting with the years in which he, as half of the producer duo The Neptunes certain the sound of the charts. Hot In Here (Nelly) Drop It Like It’s Hot (Snoop Dogg), Frontin ‘(with Jay-Z), patches Britney Spears (Slave 4U), Kelis (Milkshake) and some other.

Then his old mate Shay Haley the stage for a brief reunion with NERD Lapdance (2001) and the rocking She Wants To Move (2004). Let it be said: what an unlikely pop hits row this man has by now written and produced.

  • The sound was sterile, the band stage contributed anything of substance in and problem was that Pharrell in quite a few of his hits are not themselves the main party sings

Not so fun
Then we made a giant leap, because after 2004 years it seemed a bit over with Pharrell, and the anticipated finale followed: Get Lucky (from Daft Punk), Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke) and of course Happy, hits which he yet again to Popko sion of the time was crowned the last year and a half, the boy with a hip hop background that the legacy of Michael Jackson, The Bee Gees and Chic the actual charts in drags.

And yet picked it all is not as nice as it could be. The sound was sterile, the band on stage wearing nothing substantial in and problem was that Pharrell in quite a few of his hits do not themselves sing the main party. So many vocals from a digital box and a Pharrell that not a moment was forced to get the best out of themselves. It resulted in a flat performance on.

The best of themselves Pharrell kept for after the concert. For Humberto Tan. Then there is something not right.
