Festival
For those who still had chug, offered day three of Lowlands a variety of highlights, from old-time folk music to eclectic down-hiphop.
One apocalyptic downpour and Lowlands has a new attraction in: all together to a puddle and scream if someone accidentally steps into the mud. Easy entertainment, but Lowlands visitors are satisfied with little.
On day three is the atmosphere is still good, it’s just important to keep. Energy levels That means just put a thin layer of pancake or french fries, drink lots of coffee, keep moving and keep out the cold wind and rain.
Sexy
And most peaceful start to the day. That works well with the British singer-songwriter Fink, who subdued, melancholic, and subcutaneous brooding songs sings. Moody, but that fits with the gray Sunday morning.
Then to classical. The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra plays music from the musical West Side Story and bolero Ravel, with a fourteen-year-old Dave small drum, which is the spitting image of a young Michael Jackson. His family is beaming in the front row.
Why do they actually called the Radio Philharmonic? Because they too sexy for TV, explains presenter Till Beckand off. Solved another mystery.
afternoons are most people in the Alpha by Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion for his usual prescription of marijuana fumes and rap. But who runs along the small tent Lima, will be treated to Carolina Chocolate Drops, a foursome with banjo, bass, violin and guitar that ‘old time’ folk music from America plays. No bluegrass, but even older, explains the singer off. It will be the worst audience essence that dances, sings and claps along delirious.
Pruning Hard Rock is also there, with Red Fang and Royal Blood, the duo from Brighton with bass guitar and drums all blows over. The ears ringing hours later after. When later St. Vincent climbs the same stage, the sound seems even harder to stand, to the dismay of singer Annie Clark that the soundman uitfoetert repeatedly. Very sorry, this stubborn lady and formidable guitarist deserves more than a half-filled India.
Typhoon
large valves and Portishead Queens of the stone age, but the occurrence of Typhoon as this is actually much more interesting. A young rapper bouncing energy (also because he has just been elected as house band DWDD) who performs with his big band an original and catchy mix of hip-hop, soul, reggae, Caribbean music and tearjerkers. The tent is about to explode.
If it is not the headliners, which previously was a lot of criticism (not big enough, not innovative enough), but rather the smaller acts that surprise in this edition of Lowlands.
As in previous days, there was something for everyone on Sunday: dancing to Eastern European music at the Amsterdam Klezmer Band and Gogol Bordello, bouncing with DJ Skrillex or enjoying the trip-hop of Portishead. Ask ten people what they have had for Lowlands and you will get ten different answers. That is the strength of the festival: on every square meter is something to see, do or experience. There may be younger festivals still learn from
