Belgian Pukkelpop muziekestival take extra security measures after yesterday omwaaide a tent during heavy thunderstorms. There will include additional checks during the festival when there is wind.
All tents will be re-inspected every morning. The posts that the tents are secured put will be replaced by a type that has better resistance yet, and all anchors are doubled.
There is also a local weather station deployed more and shall advise it over the weekend. Festival director Chokri Mahassine will take on the safe side. “Pukkelpop follows the highest safety standards, but you can never rule out anything,” he told a news conference this morning.
It is not the first time that Pukkelpop affected by storms. The next edition of the festival in 2011 came while five people died and three Dutch visitors were seriously injured.
