The giant chimneys at the entrance to the festival grounds in Biddinghuizen are familiar, but right behind you have to get used to. Lowlands as permanent visitor It’s like someone gave a tug on the grass carpet and everything has shifted: the tents India and Bravo, the sleazy nightclub Titty Twister, the shed-like stage X-Ray – the layout is slightly different.
It’s a detail, because what lies ahead is clearly still Lowlands, the nicest-looking festival in the Netherlands.
Acclimatization
You must Always acclimatize in such a field, the noise, the people flow. The best remedies: good weather and a few popping performances in the first hours
Early Friday afternoon provided both.. The sun was shining (which we picked up but stuck with it, is going to rain this weekend definitely still fall), and Blood Red Shoes and Rico & amp; A.R.T. with energetic performances of the first parties stomped out of the ground. Lowlands was loose.
In the run up to edition 22 was grumbling significantly more to the program than the last ten years was common: too few really exciting names, too many bands that played earlier at Lowlands
Could be, but they cared it a powerful and delicious gritty performance, though it was a pity that they have their best known singles (including It’s Getting Boring By The Sea) dropped. The girl’s voice of Laura-Mary Carter even made the songs less catchy. She seemed to play guitar and bass, yet so powerful she rocked but her armament really just a guitar.
On the other side of the field was the party with rapper Rico, deejay ART and a stage full of musical friends. The two members of the Zwolle Fakkelteitgroep (not for the first time in Biddinghuizen, btw) do reggae on his hiphops, so exciting and good that wanted to see.
them actually late On the way from Alpha to Bravo you could nicely as a piece of Sam Smith these locations. The Grolsch tent was packed for the young Englishman between R & amp; maneuver B and soul (hit song: Money On My Mind). Smith is indeed Lowlands debutant and indeed very “2014″ but he proved especially slippery and very sweet.
The moral? Perhaps this: something too many old acquaintances from the middle may still be quite a fine Lowlands.
