Poet H. H. at Brays deceased – Telegraaf.nl

AMSTERDAM –

Closer HH at Brays is deceased. This has been publishing, Busy Bee, said Monday. To Brays received many of the most important literary awards, including the 2003 PC Hooftprijs. He died in his hometown Nijmegen. To Brays (76) had a fragile health for some time

Herman Hendrik ter Balkt, Usselo born in 1938, was also prose writer, playwright and translator. According to the Dutch Poetry Encyclopedia, he wrote his first poem at the age of nine. He initially worked as a teacher. In 1969 he published his first book of poetry. Until the seventies he published under the pseudonym Habakkuk II Balker.

The poet received for his extensive oeuvre several awards, including the Constantijn Huygens Prize, the Herman Gorter Prize and the Charlemagne Prize. Last year ‘Hey hear me Ho simultaneously on the fire towers, which at 1,800 pages, much of his work and not previously published work was collected. To Brays wrote numerous bundles, as Farmer Poems, By the axes and Plane Magnet.

Low Lands hymns (three volumes, 2003) is a collection of sonnets in which Ter Balkt describes the country’s history from the Stone Age to the present, including goals Dennis Bergkamp.

When To Brays in 2003 PC Hooftprijs received, the jury stated: “The recalcitrant tone of the poems, the lust that speaks from the seemingly frivolous, imaginative language therapy, the suggestive power of many haunting images, the sarcastic sneer to the mechanized world and the plundering of the natural fresh technical stylistic and substantive aspects of the oeuvre HH at Brays features from the beginning. “
