The Italian opera singer Magda Olivero is at the age of 104 deceased Monday in Milan. That, Italian media reported.
She was admired in operas almost 50 years and was among more fame as Manon Manon Lescaut in the opera by Giacomo Puccini, and as Violetta in La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. She was at her voice, intelligence and acting talent admired, but received much less publicity than her tijdgenotes Maria Callas and Renata Tebaldi.
Olivero, coming from Saluzzo at Turin, made her theater debut in 1933 as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi , an opera by Puccini. That same year she was also the first to hear at La Scala opera house in Milan.
